Get to know your therapist

Hi there! Welcome to my website.

As you know by now, my name is Katy and I am a psychotherapist who works with individuals and couples to make changes and improve their lives. What you might not know about me from scrolling through my website is that, while I deeply value professional boundaries and believe they are critical in this line of work, I also deeply value being as much of a real-life human with you as possible.

What does that mean for you? It means that I will be actively engaged in session, collaboratively working through things with you, and at times, sharing examples from my own life and experiences to supplement our work. It also means that my own personality will be reflected in the way we interact and in the look and feel of my office.

So, those pictures of animals above my desk? Those are my pets (2 cats & 2 dogs). The decorative ceramic objects? They're the pieces I've made in my pottery class. The two large Dieffenbachia plants in the corner of my office? My attempts at developing a green thumb (you'll see how that's going when you come in...). The list goes on.

My hope is that, by being real with you, you will be able to get a sense of how much I love my job, value my work, and appreciate the privilege that it is to be working with you. I'm not here to judge you, I'm here to understand you. I'm here to help you understand you.

Now, I know that my style of therapy isn't for everyone, and that's OK. I believe in this work and its ability to change people's lives for the better. I also believe that anyone who wants access to it should have access.

That means that if, for any reason, we aren't the best match, I would love to help you find another wonderful therapist that is.
